Be your own holistic self-care therapist
If you are feeling off balance or in a state of misalignment, you may want to think about which domains in your life are not fulfilled and how it is impacting YOU as a whole.
Sometimes illnesses that we endure from such as inflammation, fatigue, anxiety, stress and depression can be more interconnected than what we think. In assessing the reason why we have such an issue from holistic perspective is vital.
What comes to mind when you think about "Holistic Well-being"?
Did you think about your physical body or mental health, or both? Well, you're partly right.
According to WHO, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of illness or disease". It does not exist as a singular concept. It is an integration of the four components of well-being.
On Holistic approach, our "SELF" is the CORE complex of the interconnected parts. That all individual parts play a role in their own wellness. It involves looking at the health of the MIND, BODY, SOCIAL and SPIRIT as a way to promote well=being.
LET'S UNDERSTAND THIS BETTER
Think about the last time you fell sick.
What was your feeling? Do you remember your body feeling tired, exhausted and feeling weak? This is because your body is trying to fight back.
What about your mind? You would have negative thoughts and you are likely to feel overwhelmed, worried, anxious, etc.
Now think about the time when you were sick and had no one to take care of you. Those times you would have felt more ill than you did when you had someone besides you.
